ABOUT
WORKSHOPS FOR BIODIVERSITY
Workshops for Biodiversity (a non-profit organization) mobilizes stakeholders to ensure that biodiversity is better integrated into the decisions that shape Quebec.
We design and lead workshops and training sessions to better understand biodiversity issues and encourage action. We also organize events and communities of practice, conduct research and analysis projects, and contribute to discussions on biodiversity policies and practices.

Our Board of Directors and our collaborators unite around a common objective: to highlight the value of biodiversity so that it is taken into account in all decisions.
David Roy
David is the co-founder and general manager of Workshops for Biodiversity. With a background in management and communication, he works to make biodiversity a fully integrated issue in the decisions that shape Quebec society.
Her work focuses on the valorization and mainstreaming of biodiversity - and transformative changes, notably through the mobilization of organizations, capacity building and the creation of collaborations between sectors.
He holds a bachelor's degree in management from HEC Montréal, a graduate diploma in environmental management from the University of Sherbrooke, and a certificate in sustainable development from the University of Cambridge. He is particularly interested in integrating biodiversity into economic and social decisions and in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework in Quebec.
Approach and areas of action
Biodiversity affects all of society and cannot be addressed by a single sector in decision-making. Our approach is based on dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among the scientific, economic, governmental, and community sectors.

Mobilization and changing perceptions
We raise awareness of biodiversity issues and create opportunities to take action through our workshops, training sessions and events.
Capacity building
We help organizations and professionals to better integrate biodiversity into their practices and decisions through training, tools and resources tailored to their realities.
Networks and collaboration
We bring together stakeholders from different sectors within communities, working groups and events to share knowledge, build relationships and foster collaborations.
Research and development
We produce analyses, research and tools to better understand the issues and support the integration of biodiversity into decisions in Quebec.
Influence and advocacy
We follow the work and negotiations of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), IPBES and other bodies, and contribute to discussions on the policies and practices that shape the future of biodiversity.
Our scientific foundations
Our approach is based on scientific knowledge and internationally recognized reference frameworks, including those of IPBES and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
We then work to contextualize them for Quebec, collaborating with researchers, research centres and civil society organisations, including NGOs. These collaborations allow us to bring knowledge closer to Quebec realities and to better translate it into action.
Depending on the target audience and the topics covered, we also draw on recognized references in various sectors. Our workshops for businesses may, in particular, draw on the work of the TNFD, ISO, the World Economic Forum (WEF), and other leading organizations.
