Description

The interim executive director oversees the overall management of the organization during the parental leave replacement period. The role combines strategic, managerial, and operational responsibilities. The organization relies on a network of volunteers, freelancers, and partners.


ABOUT

Ateliers pour la biodiversité is a nonprofit organization founded in 2023 that aims to place biodiversity at the heart of decision-making within organizations and Quebec society. We fulfill this mission by designing and organizing workshops and training sessions on biodiversity, as well as by implementing concrete projects and dialogue initiatives to encourage action and support transformative change.


Through these activities, we empower citizens, organizations, and decision-makers to better understand biodiversity issues and take concrete action.

ObjectiVES

  • Ensure the continuity, stability, and quality of the organization’s activities (both administrative and field-based)

  • Advance ongoing projects and initiatives, particularly the implementation of the report Toward a Quebec Economy in Harmony with Nature

  • Increase and diversify the organization’s revenue and funding sources

  • Strengthen the organization’s positioning, reputation, and key partnerships


MAIN RESPONSABILITIES


Organizational Management and Coordination

  • Oversee the overall and day-to-day management of the organization

  • Plan, organize, and ensure the successful delivery of workshops, meetings, and projects

  • Coordinate the work of contractors and volunteers

  • Report to partners and the board of directors

Implementation of Activities (Field Operations)

  • Structure and develop activities in alignment with strategic priorities and the theory of change

  • Design, organize, and facilitate workshops and awareness-raising activities

  • Identify and develop opportunities for activities (workshops, trainings, events) to generate a sustainable revenue stream for the organization

  • Plan and ensure the execution of field events

  • Engage and lead the organization’s communities and working groups

Partnership Development and Fundraising

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with partners (organizations, foundations, institutions)

  • Structure cross-sector collaborations

  • Increase and diversify the organization’s revenue and funding sources

Communication and Representation

  • Represent the organization to partners, stakeholders, and networks

  • Help raise public awareness of biodiversity issues

  • Support the organization’s outreach and visibility

  • Update and manage communication platforms (website


PROFILE


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in project management and financial management of organizations or programs

  • Ability to thrive in a role that is both strategic and operational

  • Experience in partnership development and/or fundraising (strong asset)

  • Experience in leading workshops and facilitating events and working groups (strong asset)

  • Experience in organizing activities and managing events (strong asset)

  • Excellent communication and outreach skills (asset)

  • High degree of autonomy and comfort working in a lean organization

  • Collaborative leadership


KNOWLEDGE
  • Promoting biodiversity and its integration into the economy (major strength)

  • Issues related to biodiversity, the environment, sustainable development, and systemic challenges (strength)

  • Realities and dynamics specific to the municipal, financial, and corporate sectors (strength)


Conditions

  • Term of appointment: 12 months (with the possibility of extension)

  • Full-time or part-time (to be discussed)

  • Remote work, with frequent travel and in-person meetings with the team

  • Location: Most of the organization’s activities take place in the Greater Montreal area

  • Compensation: To be discussed

  • Start date: September 1, 2026
