ATTENDING COP17 in Yerevan (Armenia)


We will participate in the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), taking place in Yerevan, Armenia, from October 18 to 30, 2026. This global conference will bring together governments, civil society organizations, Indigenous Peoples, businesses, researchers, and other key stakeholders committed to advancing biodiversity conservation and sustainable use.



We will be present to contribute to discussions, help make them accessible, and share their outcomes with stakeholders in Quebec, notably through the publication of analytical articles and through the Dialogues for Biodiversity initiative. We will focus particularly on the following agenda items:

  • 12. Matters relating to support mechanisms for the implementation and awareness of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework

  • 14. Mainstreaming of biodiversity and engagement with subnational governments


We will also be present to showcase several of our initiatives related to our mission of promoting the integration of biodiversity considerations into decision-making processes in Quebec, including:


  1. Our capacity-building initiatives and efforts to integrate biodiversity into organizations, including our report Towards a Quebec Economy in Harmony with Nature;

  2. Our formal and non-formal education initiatives, including our participation in the Nature-Studies Program and the Biodiversity Collage;

  3. Our societal mobilization initiatives, such as the province-wide youth consultation on biodiversity conducted in collaboration with GYBN Québec.


Special Event

Towards a Quebec Economy in Harmony with Nature

At COP17, we will present the report Towards a Quebec Economy in Harmony with Nature, along with several Quebec initiatives illustrating the integration of biodiversity into economic decision-making at the subnational level. This event will highlight the lessons learned from the Quebec approach and foster exchanges with international partners on approaches to accelerate the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.


Our participation in COP17 to present this project is funded through the March 2023 budget measure supporting the implementation of Plan Nature 2030.


This conference will also allow us to strengthen our approaches, develop new partnerships, and bring back to Quebec inspiring ideas, tools, and practices to better support organizations and communities in their biodiversity efforts.


About COP17


COP17 represents an important milestone in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted in 2022. It will provide an opportunity to review progress made, strengthen commitments, and foster greater coordination among countries and sectors. These conferences are essential to accelerating the transformative changes needed to address the biodiversity crisis.
