On December 17 and 18, the IPBES (Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services), the equivalent of the #IPCC for #biodiversity, will publish two new assessments:


  • Transformative Change Assessment: On the topics of underlying causes of biodiversity loss, determinants of #transformativechange and options for achieving the 2050 biodiversity vision

  • Nexus Assessment: On the interconnections between #biodiversity, #water, #food and #health

What is IPBES?

The COP and its Parties may also rely on external scientific advice, such as that of the Intergovernmental Science - Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services ( commonly known as IPBES).


Founded in 2012, IPBES produces studies and reports that provide a portrait of the evolution and state of biodiversity in the world. With a view to combining science and policy, IPBES provides advice to drive political action favorable to the protection of biodiversity.
